DeLena Johnson is a 58-year valley resident who understands our community. Since coming to Alaska with her family, she has been so proud to call our great state home. A graduate of the University of Alaska, she and her husband have raised five children here. She's an avid fisherwoman who cherishes our bountiful and pristine waters.
DeLena is a proven investor in Alaska’s future. She is the owner of Ethos LLC, a firm focused on unique property management. As a business owner, she has created private sector jobs for Alaskans, provided opportunities for local businesses to thrive, and restored historic buildings.
DeLena's business led her to run for mayor, with the goal of making the City of Palmer business friendly and maintaining a healthy budget. As Mayor of Palmer she successfully represented Palmer’s interests in Juneau and took on a statewide advocacy role for Alaska's cities when she served as the President of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. She has also played a pivotal role in preserving our rich heritage as Executive Director of the Palmer Museum & Visitor Center from 2008 to 2010.
In 2016 the voters sent DeLena to Juneau where she has applied her fiscal conservatism and knowledge of Alaska's resources. Sitting on the Resources committee she effectively worked to eliminate the oil tax credits and optimize revenues from increased oil exploration. During the 33rd Legislature, (2023-24) as co-chair of the powerful House Finance Committee, DeLena was steadfast guiding the balanced operating budget to an outcome that included responsible funding for public safety, education, statehood defense, and the fourth highest PFD of the last decade.
